The real Software Testing Practitioner Certificate examination consists of a three hour written paper including a single compulsory question (worth 40%) and 5 optional questions (each worth 20%) from which 3 questions are required to be attempted.

The examination is designed to ensure that not only a candidate has learnt the knowledge from the syllabus, but also knows how to apply it to a given scenario.  The actual exam questions will commonly be set from the syllabus topics themselves.



Exam Tips

Ideally, you should have the following general testing knowledge before attempting to sit the Practitioner level exam:

    The ability to compare one item with another. This includes listing both items relevant aspects followed by writing a conclusion based on their differences.

    The ability to understand pseudo code, analyse it and create suitable test cases from it. Also, statement and branch testing should be understood in order to derive test cases from it.

    The ability to create test cases from a given scenario. Test cases may also be required to be derived from equivelance partitioning, state transition testing, boundary value analysis and classification tree methods.
