Matrics Process

1 Introduction

1.1 Background
The Metrics process (MP) covers the Measurement and Analysis (MA) process area. The Measurement and Analysis process area is a support process at maturity Level 2 in the Capability Maturity Model Integration for the development of products and services.
The Metrics process provides objective data on the actual progress of a project to understand and communicate project status. 
The Metrics process also provides organizational level data and overall organizational capabilities.

1.2 Scope and Purpose
The purpose of this document is to specify the measures, mechanism for data collection, data storage, reporting, and feedback. This process applies to any software project.
On the project’s level, it provides objective results that can be used in taking appropriate corrective actions.
It also applies to functional area such as training as the organizational level metrics.
